Almost three decades after the beginning of the Lithuanian Revival and the Sąjūdis, Skaidra Trilupaitytė's book takes a new look at the transformation processes of Lithuanian cultural life of that time. The author analyzes the collapse of totalitarian attitudes and the creation of an autonomous artistic field in the 20th century. The research is based on the history of the reorganization of the main art institutions - Vilnius Academy of Arts and the Lithuanian Artists' Association, as well as less formal initiatives of art life, which were greatly influenced by movement leaders, individual personalities. The book is not dedicated to the aspects of art itself, but to the aspects of art policy, the historical circumstances of change.
