Artist Eglė Vertelkaitė is well known in the Lithuanian art world today as she is constantly improving the means of graphic expression and new techniques, creatively improvising and surprising the audience. For the Literatų Street project in Vilnius, which received public attention in 2009, the artist won the Vilnius City Award - St. Christopher statuette. Eglė Vertelkaitė can be attributed to the generation of Lithuanian women artists who sought visual language innovations: highlighted the significance of contemporary verbal culture in the image and enriched the usual nostalgic and romantic motifs with new combinations of irony, classical and kitsch motifs. The analysis of female experience in their work shows a conscious step towards the reflection of feminism and critical theories of contemporary art.
