Jūratė Stauskaitė - I'm an artist, "graduated" graphic artist. At the moment, I prefer an authentic drawing. I was born in Kaunas in 1947 and graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts (then the Institute of Fine Arts) in 1971. I work in the field of graphics, watercolour, book illustration, write articles in the press, paint, draw, collaborate on radio and television. Since 1974 I have been a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Union. 1971 – 1974 I worked as a senior art methodologist in the house of artistic self-activity. From 1974 to 1977, I was a senior painter at Kaunas State Puppet Theatre. In 1991 I founded an alternative Vilnius children and youth art school. In 2003, together with Vilnius City Municipality, I founded Vilnius Children and Youth Art Gallery.
I participate in solo and group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. I have organized exhibitions in Norway, Czech Republic, Belgium, Greece, Canada, USA, Germany, etc. I have participated in international graphic exhibitions in Toronto (Canada), Frechen (Germany), Krakow (Poland), Fridrikstad (Norway), etc. My works have been acquired by domestic and foreign museums, private collectors and art lovers: Center for Modern Art (MO Museum, Vilnius), Lithuanian Art Museum (Vilnius), Vilnius university library, M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum (Kaunas), Museum Ludwig (Cologne, Germany), National Gallery in Prague (Czech Republic), Museum of Modern Art in New Orleans (USA), Public Library in New York (USA).
